In one of her first moves as the new @browardschools Board Chair, Sarah Leonardi showed she may be a stickler for the 3-minute public speaker rule, cutting off a couple of student speakers from South Plantation High mid-sentence. It caused some minor drama. 1 of 2

This letter (shared w/permission) is an example of the life-changing impacts SLPs bring kids; in this case thru' @browardschools AM/PM speech/language program. But while pledging to listen to community needs, BCPS quietly CLOSED this program in 13 of 16 schools, w/no discussion.

While the Board & Supt pledge to listen closer & cater better to the needs of students & parents, the wonderful AM/PM program for students with mild speech/language delay has been decimated in a chaotic, inequitable rollback that @browardschools tried to keep below the radar.
The "AM/PM" program, a half-day speech/language pre-K class, is being slashed from 16 @Browardschools (pink) to three (blue). Who'll explain this to parents east & south? Or to parents AT ALL? Where's the IEP meetings? This map shld be called "Inequity in Blue." @HowardHepburn

Another sign @browardschools may want you to buy clear bags is this notice. It’s normal to ban backpacks last week of school after books are returned. That’s happened for a while. But does anyone recall clear lunch container requirements prior to recent clear bags discussion?
