What are the @MapleLeafs getting in Easton Cowan? High energy winger. Tenacious as hell. Great speed. Improved so much as a play driver in the second half. Just scratching the surface. #NHLDraft2023

Two words for today. Anthony Cirelli. 2 OHL Championships. 1 Memorial Cup. 2 Silver Medals (U20's and WC's). IMO a possible Selke award this year in the NHL. And...he sat through today without hearing his name called. Put in the work and good things will happen. #OHLDraft

Honestly, at this point, the best thing for all parties would be to cancel the OHL season for this year and turn focus to finding a way to allow draft eligible kids in Ontario to showcase themselves before the July NHL Draft.

Anthony Cirelli and Barclay Goodrow are fantastic examples of how development is non linear, with both being great inspirations to young Ontario hockey players. One not drafted in the OHL. One not drafted in the NHL. Both persevered. Both are two time Stanley Cup Champions.

In Ty Voit the Leafs are getting one of the draft's premier playmakers. Truly believe that if the OHL plays, he's a top two round selection. Insane vision and precision on his passes. More shifty (strong edgework) than quick. Massive potential. Great selection. #NHLDraft

At this point, Shane Wright is looking like a pretty good bet to hit the 40 goal mark on the season. The last three U17 players to do that in the OHL? John Tavares, Taylor Hall, and Steve Stamkos. Not bad company.

Who knows what next season looks like in the OHL (and CHL), but I'd love for them to extend the age limit for a season to let this year's OA's get a proper send off and an opportunity to further their career in hockey...if they want it.

As much as people will blame Saginaw's loss on the Prosvetov incident, Tristan Lennox did not lose this series for the Spirit. He was excellent and has proven himself to be one of the OHL's elite young netminders.

Something that I don't think is being said enough. Ryan Merkley is having a very good year. Managing his emotions better. Making better decisions with the puck. His commitment and engagement defensively has increased. I've been hard on him in the past, but he's really blossomed.

Love love love the Hudson Malinoski pick by Toronto. Lost a ton of development time due to a freak incident that caused a torn vertebral artery. Big shooter. Great vision. Was terrific at this year’s WJAC. Project but like the upside. #NHLDraft2023

Very real possibility that 3 16 year old rookies hit the 30 goal mark in the OHL this year (Perfetti already, Byfield & Perreault soon to follow). The last time that's happened? Never. Would be an OHL first and is a testament to one of the best rookie crops to play in the OHL.

For all the OHL Draft eligibles today, remember Anthony Cirelli. He has a Memorial Cup, IIHF Silver medal, & he could add a Stanley Cup to his resume this year. He was not drafted into the OHL. Not about where, when, or if you go. It's what you do after that defines your legacy.

Jack Matier has had his best game of the tournament so far today. Looks more confident making plays with the puck and is asserting himself more physically. Great showing from him.

My annual look at the top overage free agents in the OHL (for NHL teams). Noel Hoefenmayer leads the list as he is on pace to be the first OHL defender to hit the 90+ point mark since Ryan Ellis. Check out the rest of the Top 10.

And if you don't get drafted, let names like Alex Debrincat, Andrew Mangiapane, Anthony Cirelli be your inspiration. Or a current OHL'er like Sean Josling, the current points leader in the playoffs for Sarnia.

I've dropped my first draft ranking of the year. As per usual, this is my preseason Top 30 from the OHL for 2023. Cam Allen, Calum Ritchie, and Colby Barlow lead the way.
