The work on Evf2 (and lncRNAs) continues an intellectual curiosity, seeking to understand the functions of RNA transcripts independent of protein coding potential. We continue to work in this space, both within the developing forebrain and retina. Be on the lookout for new….

The killifish study represents a previously unfamiliar research topic for me… transcriptional homeostasis and aging. This also introduced me to both a new research model and evolutionary adaptations (diapause and fast-aging/senescence) that ensure fitness of a species.

The second is a decades long interest in understanding the mechanisms by which lncRNAs, (specifically Evf2) regulate RNA-protein-DNA interactions in control of gene expression in collaboration with my post-bac mentor Jhumku Kohtz.

Two new preprints from the lab this week. The first, a collaboration with @LabMoons, @MacDonald_Lab, and @phruzycki (led by @StevenBergmans and @NCLNoel) examining how gene expression changes with age in the fast-aging killifish model.
