A complete failure to lead on the housing supply crisis. Sonya Sharp and Community First are the obstructionist - anti housing party. And Mayor Gondek and #yyccc are completely failing to lead. Time for a change. #theCalgaryParty

The Calgary Party was formed to bring leadership to City Hall. This October, let’s demand leaders who do the work, respect collaboration, and make principled decisions—not ones who play political games at the expense of our city’s future. Failed leaders should not be rewarded.

They claimed their issue was with process. Yet, on May 27, when given the chance to vote on each amendment individually, the Communities First coalition doubled down and rejected the motion. This is not how a city should be run. Calgary deserves better.

🚨 Failure #2: Communities First.Led by Clr Sharp, this coalition voted against amendments they either didn’t understand or didn’t engage with. They opposed fixing errors and clarifying regulations—actions that would cut red tape and save taxpayer dollars.

🚨 Failure #1: The Mayor.Leadership means ensuring Council agendas are prepared, supported, and that critical initiatives don’t fail due to poor coordination. Yet again, Mayor Gondek failed to secure the necessary support, leaving Calgary’s future to the mercy of disarray.

The Communities First coalition of Councillors led the charge against the amendments. No one requested individual votes or stepped up to lead. Here’s where leadership failed Calgary:.

The amendments ranged from minor corrections to significant improvements—all designed to make Calgary more efficient for residents and businesses. But dysfunction and political gamesmanship took over.

At the May 6 Public Hearing, City Administration proposed 12 critical amendments to the Land Use Bylaw. These changes, aimed to fix errors, clarify regulations, and cut red tape - delaying housing. Instead of progress, the entire package was defeated. Here’s what happened: 🧵.

As Mayor, I’ll fight for Calgary’s fair share — with credibility, cooperation, and real plans. Let’s build a Calgary (and Canada) we’re proud of — one that leads with vision, not fear. #thecalgaryparty #yyc2025.

The Premier talks autonomy while ignoring treaty rights, trampling on cities, and pulling $2.1B from Calgary’s Green Line. Her renewables ban scared off $33B in investment. This isn’t strategy — it’s political theatre. #abpoli.

Calgary is thriving — in tech, energy innovation, arts, and more. People move here for opportunity, not chaos. We succeed by building bridges, not walls. That’s Alberta’s real story: resilience, optimism, and community. #yyccc.

Danielle Smith’s latest remarks are more of the same: divisive rhetoric, no real solutions. Instead of addressing Alberta’s challenges, she stokes separatist sentiment — and it’s Calgarians who pay the price. We need leadership, not distraction. #yyc #ableg #cdnpoli.

This #yyccc is dysfunctional and has the lowest approval rating ever. Now they have the D+ grade on financial accountability to match it. @thecalgaryparty will do better. #yyc.

Calgary scored a D+ in financial transparency - it's time for change. That's why last fall we led with Budget Choice. Calgarians deserve transparency & accountability for how City Hall is spending. The Calgary Party and @BrianTYYC are committed to turning that D+ into an A+.

For too long, Calgary City Hall has been stuck in gridlock — endless bickering, missed opportunities, and a failure to deliver on what Calgarians need most. That's why @BrianTYYC is stepping up - to be your next Mayor, and build a Calgary that works.
