This was from Nov 2012 and running on the single player engine. By April of 2013, with massive tech help from IW engineers, we had 4 player Extinction Point of Contact rough map version running on the MP engine and we used that version for our Green Light meeting.

We wanted to force the players to have a defense point that moved around the map, so they could use the terrain and buildings in different ways. With the fog, we couldn't really promote moving, so the drill idea came about after the design team sat on a toy carpet with action

The gameplay loop eventually was inspired by The Mist (2007). At various times a fog would roll in and you had to set traps and defenses to have a safe zone because you could only see the 🦕👀 glowing and they would attack. Eventually this loop turned into protecting the drill

This was the original 2012 Neversoft pitch video for Extinction. We eventually got a killer concept for the default cryptid from IW, but early on they looked a bit more🦕. This map, from IW, had a "life without people" vibe to it, which was awesome.

It is incredibly refreshing to have J.D. Vance in power. Having someone competent, who earned their way, and who can give a broad and invigorating speech that shows he knows what the big issues are just feels good after decades of boring, unrelatable figurehead drones.

Between done swarms and hypersonic kinetic missiles, the US better have some unseen defense tech like directed EMPs and lock on lasers because the nature of war has changed dramatically in the past 3-4 years.

So far, almost nobody in the west fully comprehends the Oreshnik weapon system just demonstrated by Russia. Hat tip to Ted Postol, Scott Ritter and Brian Berletic, the only 3 people I've found so far who fully understand this. I've done the math on the kinetic energy of the

This sucks for artists in the games industry. It was headed this way for years though. IW outsourced all of the zombie parts and different outfits for the era specific DLC in ZiS and most concept art was also outsourced. They likely look at gen AI as a new outsourcing tool.

Every day we get closer to mass unemployment. No wonder Sam Altman is now in favor of UBI. „A WIRED investigation finds that major players like Activision Blizzard, which recently laid off scores of workers, are using generative AI for game development.“
