I wondered about that - thanks Donny. The plate is set into a stone that forms part of what looks like a new spit of land (or at least revamped when the Western Harbour properties were built). It’s set flat on the walkway and visible only when you’re standing over it. Curious.
@EdinburghDrift @SecretEdin My guess would be that there were a series of these all the way out from the start of the pier . Probably to give the docking ships instructions or for harbour charging dues.
