Freshman setter Kassie O’Brien had a much larger role in this game. She only played in the final two sets and still led the Wildcats with 27 assists, she also added two blocks and three kills. In her third career game, she played a crucial role in a statement win for Kentucky.

Final 3-0 UK.UK:25 PSU:23. Kentucky swept the defending national champions on banner night. Hard to imagine a better way to bounce back from the tough loss on Sunday. Brooklyn DeLeye led UK with 18 kills, Eva Hudson followed with 10. Asia Thigpen had 9 kills, hitting .467.

Timeout PSU.UK:24 PSU:22. DeLeye came out of the timeout with an ace then Eva Hudson recorded two kills to force match point. Penn State called a timeout in a last ditch effort to stay alive.

End of 2nd set. 2-0 UK.UK:25 PSU:16. UK used a dominant attack to comfortably win the second set. Kentucky had 16 kills with an impressive hitting percentage of .452. UK has had a strong presence at the net so far, recording eight blocks in two sets.

Media Timeout.UK:15 PSU:10. Kentucky’s attack has been lethal in the second set. UK rolled into the media timeout on a 7-3 run with 6 of the points coming from kills. Eva Hudson and Lizzie Carr both have three kills this set.

End of first set. 1-0 UK.UK:25 PSU:21. Kentucky finished out set one with a 3-1 run following the timeout. Brooklyn DeLeye ended the set with her 9th kill of the match, hitting .533. Kentucky recorded five total blocks in the set.

Kentucky timeout.UK:22 PSU:20. Kentucky went on a 4-2 run out of the Penn state timeout. PSU responded with a 3-0 run to force a UK timeout late in the first set.

Penn State timeout.UK:18 PSU:15. Kentucky came out of the media timeout with a 4-0 run that included three consecutive Brooklyn DeLeye kills.

Media Timeout.UK:14 PSU:15. Kennedy Martin is off to a great start with 5 kills on 9 tries. Martin recorded 25 kills with a hitting percentage of .412 against UK last season with UF. Eva Hudson leads UK with 3 Kills while Brooklyn DeLeye, Lizzie Carr and Asia Thigpen all have 2.

No. 7 Kentucky suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to No. 1 Nebraska in a reverse sweep. This is how the match played out, and where things went south for the Wildcats.

Final 3-2 Nebraska. Nebraska showed why they are the No. 1 team in the country, pulling off the reverse sweep. Kentucky was able to get away with mistakes early because the Cornhuskers were matching them. When Nebraska tightened up, Kentucky really struggled to keep up.

Fifth Set - Timeout Kentucky.11-7 Nebraska. Kentucky called a timeout to cut Nebraskas momentum. The Wildcats still have an opportunity to make a final stand but the margins for error have become razor thin.

Fifth Set - Timeout Nebraska.6-5 Nebraska. The Kentucky timeout successfully calmed down the crowd and allowed them to pull back within one. Nebraska responded with its own timeout.

Fifth Set - Timeout Kentucky.5-2 Nebraska. Nebraska has come out firing in the fifth set and pulled ahead early. Kentucky called a timeout to both silence the raucous crowd and slow Nebraskas momentum.

The Wildcats have started slow in all four sets so far, which doesn’t bode well for a shortened deciding set. Kentucky will need to show up in a big way to prevent the reverse sweep.
