According to my photo storage, on this day in 2008 I was taking pictures of a rag crucified on a groyne. @QuaysideKat

A post solstice, pre Christmas walk on the fen, all flatness, light and water - and the odd decaying building.

#firstbirdofmyday was not our chatty sparrows, the blue or great tits dashing in for food or the charming goldfinches, not even the hooligan gang of starlings - all explained when @QuaysideKat looked out at the other side of the house.

A taste of our drained water world of a fen filling up again in the current weather - an old apple tree and flooding in Pandyke Lane (the names have a fen poetry of their own). @QuaysideKat @FascinatingFens @PaulMagan2

A couple of pictures of one of the many empty buildings around here - this one still quite sound. Interesting glass front - workshop of some sort I'd guess. They are very much part of the character and atmosphere of the fen.

Just finishing 'The Flow' by @AmyJaneBeer and wondering how long before a good bit of our part of the East Fen reverts to the mere marked on the maps over 200 years ago, before our house was built. An excellent book, by the way.

We also have some amazing farm buildings, often hidden away - and in various states of decay. These ones look quite healthy.

Went out just before Christmas and have managed to process some of the amazing Lincs Fen flatness and sky - high winds help even if it is hard to stand up and hold a camera steady. @QuaysideKat @LincsSkies @FascinatingFens @PaulMagan2 @TheFens3

Another lovely morning of Fen flatness and sky before the rain sets in. A bit of a photography dry spell - in contrast to the weather - but getting back to it. Meet our neighbour the tattie bogle. @TheFens3 @FascinatingFens @PaulMagan2 @GrimArtGroup @QuaysideKat

On the fifth day of the Advent Christmas Cake brackets of marzipan Turkey Tail fungi sprouted from a chocolate log. How appropriate for the time of year I thought to start with Turkey Tails

Our little bit of Lincolnshire fenland has a particular atmosphere and sparse beauty in the ice and fog. The isolated trees stand out spectacularly - when you get close enough. @TheFens3 @PaulMagan2 @FascinatingFens

When I were a nipper, I never dreamed that sixty years later I'd still be coming up and down this bloody hill on me bike delivering folks' takeaways.

Just as an observation, 1930s Germany was all about rhetoric, ideology, othering, removal of rights, intimidation, propaganda and finger pointing which focused on minorities/disabled/religion/sexual orientation etc. War itself (1939) and the horror that followed (Wannsee /

Beautiful snowdrops at our favourite wood - and, as always plenty of tree monsters - which is what @quaysidekat and I go there for really. A place for some natural @GrimArtGroup and often some wonderful @TopStumps
