A post solstice, pre Christmas walk on the fen, all flatness, light and water - and the odd decaying building.

#firstbirdofmyday was not our chatty sparrows, the blue or great tits dashing in for food or the charming goldfinches, not even the hooligan gang of starlings - all explained when @QuaysideKat looked out at the other side of the house.

A couple of pictures of one of the many empty buildings around here - this one still quite sound. Interesting glass front - workshop of some sort I'd guess. They are very much part of the character and atmosphere of the fen.

Just finishing 'The Flow' by @AmyJaneBeer and wondering how long before a good bit of our part of the East Fen reverts to the mere marked on the maps over 200 years ago, before our house was built. An excellent book, by the way.

We also have some amazing farm buildings, often hidden away - and in various states of decay. These ones look quite healthy.
