Man 2003-2008 was a great time to be a basketball fan in Metro Detroit:
- Pistons win '04 title, six straight ECFs
- Shock win '03, '06, '08 titles
- Saw The Palace's address change from 2 to 3 to 4 to 5 to 6 Championship Drive
On this day, 17 years ago, (September 16, 2003) Coach Bill Laimbeer and the Detroit Shock won their first WNBA title in front of a sell-out crowd of 22,076.
