This player didn’t feel passionate about the sport when I started coaching her. She had a bad experience with a coach who made her dislike the game and she was thinking of quitting. Coaching isn’t about the wins. It’s feedback like this that makes all the hard work worth doing.

The person always comes before the learning. Sport & education can be intense, but taking time to connect changes everything. Ask how they are. Give a high five. Praise effort. Show interest. Small moments. Big impact. #YouthDevelopment.

Technique doesn’t need to look “perfect.” If it works in the game and achieves the goal, it’s effective. Sport isn’t about cloning robots. It’s about finding technique what works for each player and providing them the tools to use it in REAL game situations. #PhysicalEducation.

Teaching the game and teaching skills are two different things. You can teach both through the game but you can’t teach the game by isolating the skill. Time is limited. Be efficient. Design sessions that do more than one job and give players more than one way to learn.

The more you grow, the more your players will too. Focus on your own development as a coach or teacher rather than the scoreboard. Be a sponge and keep learning. Your knowledge and mindset will shape theirs more than any result ever could. #YouthDevelopment #PhysicalEducation

One of the players I coach gets really upset when she misses a chance on goal. So we’ve started talking about having a “goldfish memory” 🐠.Forget fast. Reset. Focus on the next moment. It’s helped her bounce back quicker and enjoy the game more.

Supporting kids’ wellbeing in sport means caring for their mind as much as their body. As coaches and teachers, our words shape confidence, mindset, and resilience, not just performance. We’re not just coaching sport… we’re coaching people! #YouthDevelopment #PhysEd.

Too often, it’s adults who hold players back. We over-coach, prioritise results, and forget the joy. Want to help kids thrive?. Create safe spaces to fail, explore, and grow. Step back, listen more, and let them play.
