The Minneapolis City Council voted 10-3 to override the mayor's veto of the ordinance on Uber/Lyft driver pay. The ordinance will go into effect May 1.

I do not recall seeing an upper low post up near Hudson Bay for almost 2 straight weeks like what is currently setting up in a long time! Pumping cold air south into the ever steady southeast ridge. Could bring some heavy snows here in Minneapolis next week!

I was told growing up that we “have Cherokee” in the Williams family. I didn’t learn until much later that we’re descended from people enslaved by the Cherokee who themselves were driven from their ancestral land by the US govt and forced west to the state now known as Oklahoma.

His daughter Jennie -born in 1886 - married my great-grandfather Clem John Brandt – who is also my namesake. He changed his name to John Williams (that’s another story). Jennie remarried after John died to a man named Lee French. I remember calling them gramma & grampa Frenchy.

Thao asking for a bench trial.
Former Minneapolis officer Tou Thao has asked for a bench trial instead of a jury trial in the killing of George Floyd. It would be just on count two, aiding and abetting manslaughter. (5)

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Kueng will plead guilty to aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter. In exchange, the charge against him of aiding and abetting second-degree murder will be dropped.
