After 5 years in Pennsylvania, Summer and I are coming home next month. I’m excited to announce that I will be the next Director of Communications and Media Relations for the @NCHSAA . We are thrilled for a new chapter in our lives and to be able to raise our daughter in NC.

The NCHSAA is rolling out its new hashtag (#NCHSAAGameLockedIn) for the year with a full toolkit for schools to utilize, complete with PA reads, a video from the SAAC, co-branded graphics and more.

Terrible news. Loved playing here while we lived in PA. Would sneak over to the range on lunch breaks and played Saturday mornings before bartending shifts. Dauphin Highlands is a great and affordable muni, hate to see it go away.

While this may come as a surprise, I am aware that high school football games starts this week and you are desperate to get your media pass approved. You and 594 other people also applied for a pass. I am working through them as quickly as I can.

If you applied for a media pass this weekend and were prompted to complete a drug test, please disregard. The NCHSAA does not require drug testing for media passes. although. .

Spreadsheets are hard sometimes. I do apologize to North Lincoln and Lake Norman Charter for the 3A Wells Fargo Cup mix-up. Both schools had tremendous years last year.

The NCHSAA -- well, I -- will not "fast track" or expedite media passes. Background checks must be passed and independent photographers must provide letters of recommendation from Coaches/ADs/Principals at member schools.

As a friendly reminder, the NCHSAA does not comment on investigations and/or sanctions. Any information regarding those situations should come from the parties involved.

If you complete the background check, submit the letters of recommendation and request the card, I will still reject your media credential for not wearing a shirt in your photo. I guess this is the annual reminder to please wear clothes in your media card photos.

I am aware that many media cards are not displaying your name and photo. They should load properly in the DragonFly Coaches App. Also, dragonfly is aware of the issue.

Reminder about NCHSAA media passes: due to state law, I do not have the authority to tell schools what passes they must accept at regular season games. Many schools honor our media passes in the regular season but they are not required to do so.

The NCHSAA receives nearly 1,000 Year-Long Credential requests each year. Please, PLEASE, do not call me to tell me you have applied for one. Once the letters of recommendation come in and the background check is passed, you will be approved.

REMINDER: Since football season is just around the corner, the use of drones is PROHIBITED within the confines of stadiums, fields and arenas during NCHSAA contests (including pre & post game). (Handbook 2.2.3c). I get this question several times per year.

The NCHSAA Awards Ceremony was Wednesday but I wanted to give a quick shout out to Cory Smith from the @mountairynews for winning the Tim Stevens Media Rep. of the Year. Cory put in a lot of hours and miles this year covering Mount Airy and Surry County. Very well deserved.
