Murfreesboro Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on Netherland Dr. One resident had minor burns but declined treatment/transport. Damage was mostly to the exterior. The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause. Units: L1, E3, L8, R1, BC1, BC2, S1, S2, C131, C134, C138.

Smoke filled the library at Mitchell-Nelson Elementary this afternoon after an HVAC malfunction prompted a safe evacuation of students and staff. MFRD crews arrived just after 2 p.m., located a malfunctioning rooftop unit, and secured it. No injuries were reported.

Youth Leadership Rutherford – Civil Leadership Day 2026 Students toured MFRD Station 4, met firefighters, explored equipment, and learned from MPD about law enforcement and legal issues. The day ended with a Mayor’s Panel featuring leaders from across Rutherford County.

MFRD was dispatched to a large vehicle fire at the Thorntons located at Barfield and New Salem Hwy. E9, L1, BC1, S2, S1, R1, R11 responded. There were no occupants in the vehicle and no injuries reported.

MFRD units responded to a vehicle fire on NW Broad Street this afternoon. Engine 7, Ladder 4, Safety 2, and Battalion Chief 2 were dispatched. The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

MFRD responded this afternoon to InTown Suites on Old Fort Pkwy after a sprinkler pipe broke in the attic, causing part of a ceiling to fall. No collapse occurred, but water damage affected all three floors. Crews assisted residents with transport to a shelter.

MFRD responded to a small roofing system fire at International Paper this morning. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, and a sprinkler head activated. The Fire Marshal’s Office conducted an initial investigation. No injuries reported.
