Love Murakami and this one was my introduction to him. Surreal and magical #devonbookhour

For our 10th birthday year I'm going to do a bit of a bookshop crawl - any of you bookshops got things going on you'd like me to celebrate? @liznojanbooks @winstoneSid @HarbourBookshop @thebookery @EastGateBooks #devonbookhour

What book did you plan to read for ages and how was it when you got there? For me The Count of MC and it's as improbable and wonderful as I hoped #devonbookhour

Am also thinking about ways of celebrating our 10th birthday year. First thought - featuring 10 independent bookshops across Devon and having a bit of a bookshop crawl - which would you nominate? If you are bookshop, give me a shout and I'll come and visit #devonbookhour

First book of 2026? One Day In Teh LIfe Of Ivan Denisovich - a wonderful novella by Alexander Solzhenitsin. 5th time of reading and love it just as much. Todfay I started The Count Of Monte Cristo and am mesmerised. Why did I leave it so long? #devonbookhour

As everyone's so busy in this holiday season there won't be a #devonbookhour this evening. We'll be back on 5th January to catch up on your news and talk about our 10th anniversary programme for 2026. I'm ending the year with this classic. How about you? Have a great week 😀

Agree to a degree but don't books also reveal life?

Wishing you all a very Happy (and hopefully book-filled) Xmas, however you are spending your day. I'd love to hear about the books you've given or received and about what you are reading

@BookDevon @VaseemKhanUK Met Vaseem at a book festival and bought the book. Very good read, brought old ideas to life and following books in the series are just as good.

Two broken cops. One irretrievably damaged - the other an outcast. Broken takes place in a side of Reykjavík no visitor would ever want to see, against a backdrop of a vicious vendetta and price on Dóra’s head. https://t.co/j9ZOKa6nhA

I'm looking for ideas for our 2026 programme - themed evenings, maybe a get-together, something to resonate with our 10th birthday (which was in October) - 10 bookshops, 10 top classics, 10... what are your thoughts? #devonbookhour
