The Donation Land Claim Act 172 years ago today, Sept 27, this Act became law. According to today's scholars, the Act was possibly more powerful in excluding black people from Oregon than the black exclusion laws of the 1840s-50s. #Oregon #History

Portland, Oregon Late 1950s/Early 1960s Northwest Towers -100% white occupancy -The city (H.A.P) didn't tell black people about the applications until all apartments were taken. -Pres Kennedy was supposed to visit. When his office heard what happened, they canceled the visit.
