8/ The need for a truly decentralized Web3 is greater than ever. It’s time to recommit to building the future we imagined.

7/ But here’s the thing: it’s not too late to turn things around. Builders, investors, and Web3 enthusiasts: we can do better. The spirit of decentralization isn’t dead—it’s up to us to reignite it.

6/ Worse still, many new advancements are leaning into centralization. Foundations that maintain these networks often don’t own the intellectual property—private corporations do, licensing it back to the networks for profit.

5/ Today, corporate interests and short-term greed are eroding that vision. Instead of building systems owned by the many, we’re recreating the centralized structures we aimed to disrupt.

4/ Honestly, it’s disappointing. Web3 began as a homage or improvement to Web1—a movement for self-sovereignty and decentralization, embodied by Bitcoin: a digital currency controlled by everyone and owned by no one.

3/ Sure, these models bring benefits—mainly for corporations and investors. But let’s ask ourselves: Is this really what Web3 was meant to be? Is this the vision that inspired us in the first place?

2/ Centralized solutions are proliferating across the space: - L2 solutions that consolidate power into a few hands. - Cloud-based RPC services dominated by corporate providers. - Blockchains with a large portion of nodes hosted on a handful of cloud providers.
