Mezo’s launch brings another CometBFT-based protocol to the bitcoin space. The network is EVM-compatible and can support a variety of onchain applications. It will also serve as a new extension for the tBTC asset. Learn more about Mezo here: .

The network is built on CometBFT - a popular consensus mechanism for Bitcoin-adjacent blockchains. CometBFT has single-slot finality, meaning that blocks cannot be re-organized once they are part of the canonical blockchain. More than ⅔ of validator voting power must sign.

When using Mezo, users take on a few trust assumptions. First, the official bridge program is between Ethereum and Mezo. When users deposit funds into Mezo, they first exchange their BTC for a wrapped version on Ethereum. Users firstly take on the trust assumption of the given.
