The library is running workshops on Saturday 10th (online) and 17th May (in-person) to support students completing their dissertations. Learn how to find the books, eBooks, and articles you need and more. You can sign up for these events here:

The Online Library Catalogue System will be upgraded tonight at 8pm. The upgrade will take between 6 - 8 hours and during this period, the library catalogue service will be unavailable. We apologise for any disruption this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

We are running bitesize (15-20 minute) sessions this week on topics including finding and accessing journal articles, using the library catalogue, and accessing eBooks. These are running on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and you can find more info here:

We also encourage students to join @SenateHouseLib, membership is now open to all Birkbeck students. They have printing, computer access and many of the same online recourses we have, although there are some gaps in certain subjects.

Library users can now borrow and return physical books, you can search our catalogue via the external JISC Library hub service by selecting Birkbeck in the advanced search tab

Most of our services which rely on IT platforms remain unavailable, including the Library catalogue and access to our ebooks, journals, databases, and other electronic resources like journal articles linked from Moodle. Work is under way to restore these services.

The library is open today but we are operating a very limited service due to the ongoing IT issues. You can use the study space, return books, and browse. There is currently no access to WiFi, PCs, printing, or borrowing so if you need any of these then don't visit.

The IT issues we have been suffering from today have not been resolved and sadly, the library and main building will remain closed for the rest of the week. All staff and students have been emailed about this so please check your emails for further details. Apologies again.
