Learner with ambition - Biomed and bioinformatics
Joined October 2020
After two years of bioinformatics on my Windows laptop, I am so excited that packages just install flawlessly on the Linux computing cluster where everything is setup already.

A lot of the vibe coding is making crappy code, but still it is magical to see the LLM producing somewhat coherent code so fast. At the very least, it gives somewhat of a basis to start working on myself.

When editing styling @lovable_dev keeps summarising my content XD. Please, just please, leave the content alone and ONLY change the styles. The main change was to find and replace class= to className=. The way Lovable works, the entire section is re-LLMed and this happens...

In a rush I submitted a big batch inference job to @googlecloud Vertex AI, and instead of Gemini 2.5 Flash, selected 2.5 Pro, hours later I saw the payments going through and had to lay down for a minute... ๐ญ๐๐

How come gmail always works, switching between accounts works, but outlook just messes up every other day? Is it too much asked to have a clean and working email service?

learn.microsoft.com
Describes how to change the dots per inch (dpi) setting of a PowerPoint slide when you save it as a picture. To do this, you must add a new registry value.

Switched from rstudio to jupyter notebooks with R kernel. Best decision ever. I cant believe I did not make the move earlier. This is 100 times mote stable, faster and just plain better.

@PieterOmtzigt @Nvanvroonhoven

One the most annoying traits of Lovable is the errors and the endless loop of โfix thisโ. Been trying replit now for a big project and it works so well for functionality. For design, lovable is far more superior. Maybe start with replit and move to lovable for design?

My suggestion, 2 red bulls and 3 espressos right before the presentation ๐ณ

Group leaders and supervisors are out mentors to become more successful scientists, doing rigorous research, but they should also be experts in presentation, marketing, communication. It saddens me the super cool science and hard work gets deflated by the presentation.

I get it, we all get nervous when standing in front of a big crowd. English is not my first language so talking is always tough under pressure. But at the minimum, we should improve how we present the storyline, slides, and messaging.

I have always been interested in how marketing or sales approaches a conversation. Everything is nicely step by step, clear, and needs based. Intonation is super important, sure, but the messaging and how to queue messages so it all makes sense is so important.

As scientists, we really need to learn how to present. I see what you are presenting, hear it, understand that it is interesting, but it just does not excite me. Not because it is not exciting, but because of the presentation.

I get so nervous during lectures. I hear and see people typing vigorously. People, what are you typing so fast? I am just sitting here enjoying the lecture and thinking about it ๐ณ

Now we pause, observe, discern Truths revealed beneath the skin, In the silence, lessons learned; We verify what lies within.
