And another yesterday with life-threatening injuries. Are we ready to stop this yet? Traffic fatalities are not inevitable, and there's plenty of information out there on how to prevent them (per the actions we list above).

Seven people have been killed on Anchorage roads this month. Last week, Bike Anchorage sent a letter to AK DOT&PF calling for urgent action, including reducing excessive vehicle speeds and adding crosswalks. We need your voice! Join our call to action:.

🚧 Construction Update 🚧.Heads up, trail lovers! A section of the Coastal Trail at Point Woronzof will be CLOSED starting today (9/9) through Monday (9/16) for rerouting due to coastal erosion. We apologize for the inconvenience and can't wait to welcome you back next week!

TONIGHT: Join us and the Anchorage Museum for a tour of public art by bike! Meet 5-5:15pm on the Museum lawn and roll out at 5:30pm. 5-7 mile ride, slow pace, lots of stops. It's a beautiful day for it!

Trail update!.
Chester Creek Trail - Aug 9 7AM: The Parks Dept was pumping water from beneath C St this morning — had about another foot of water to go. The rest of the trail was clear — Gambell, Arctic, and east of Minnesota — though in some cases barricades/trai.

It's First Tuesday, which means another double header! We'll be there rain or shine, and Bernie's has sheltered outdoor seating right next to their fun bike racks.
Double header on bike events tonight:.1) Weekly PBL group ride (Westchester Lagoon boat ramp, 6pm).2) Monthly advocacy social (Bernie's, 6pm).The ride will join the social around 7pm. Bernie's has cool bike racks in their patio area! Both events are casual & everyone is welcome.

The ebike ordinance passed (unanimously!) with the change we requested: making all ebikes (including class 3) legal on bike facilities 🎉.

As more people use electric-assisted bicycles, scooters and other new forms of “micromobility” devices on Anchorage’s trails, city officials are rethinking how to regulate the changing technology.

P.S. Here's the agenda & details for tomorrow's meeting. The ebike ordinance is item 13.A, the first public hearing on the agenda (so hopefully it will come up relatively early, perhaps 7-9pm). The current version is "AO 2024-51(S)" (linked on the agenda).
