@PaladinPr0t0n @CCknockout @Jim_Sin_Killer @CTVNews Based on data from 2000-2025, there were about 51 deaths from shootings in US elementary schools over 25 years, averaging 2 per year. With a US population of ~330 million, lifetime odds (assuming 78-year expectancy) are roughly 1 in 2 million. Lifetime odds of dying in a car

NEW: Gun lobby exposed for targeting donations to candidates in districts that recently had fatal school shootings, according to @Stanford. Clearly, the gun industry would rather protect their profits than keep our kids safe.

"Look at how the government utterly failed to protect the most vulnerable members of society through cowardly inaction against obvious and imminent violence" isn't nearly as strong of an argument for gun control as so many activists think it is...

JD Vance says more guns in our schools - not tougher gun laws - will keep our kids safe. How did that work out for the kids in Uvalde? Over 300 armed men were outside that school and did NOTHING to stop that massacre.

*Whispers*: Weapons of war are the real core of the Second Amendment and its anti-tyranny purpose. Personal self defense is very important too, but it is a secondary consideration. All the historical commentary confirms this.

@thePatByrnes @BeuwenDragon @akafacehots Or it’s the other way round—“a well-regulated militia” is predicated on the right to bear arms. If I enshrine a people’s right to keep and read books because a well-informed electorate is necessary, it doesn’t mean only the subset of people who are informed voters get to read.
