With the loss of Shai Doron, Jerusalem has lost its best friend

Shai laid out the path for us and we continue along the way he has led us. We share in the grief of the beloved Doron family in its immense loss. May his memory be blessed. 3/3

Shai was a man of vision and a man of action, working tirelessly on behalf of the Zoo and the city of Jerusalem. He built the Zoo as a place of love for people and nature, a Jerusalem meeting place on an international level, and a place of education for nature conservation. 2/3

We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Shai Doron, the founding Director-General of the Zoo and the Aquarium. Shai served as Director-General of the Zoo for 26 years from the day it was opened, and afterwards as the President of the Jerusalem Foundation. 1/3

11 chicks hatched and were transferred for adoption at the Hai-Bar Carmel Nature Reserve, the Gamla Reserve, and the Zoo. The chicks will be released into the wild over the summer of 2025. 📸Tal Romano 2/2

The hatching season for the griffon vultures has ended at the newly renovated Toni and Oded Eliashar National Incubation Center. Over the course of the season, which began in January 2024, we received 28 eggs from five different sites. 1/2
