Got my copy of Cutting Season. The print looks and feels beautiful, even better than what I imagined. Go preorder your copy or get it when it's out this coming 20th.
There is something dark and despairing in not seeing your trauma anywhere in art, on other people's lips or works. The loneliness of escaped words, the elusive left alone sentences, muttered condolences. I want the fire of hurt to comfort me.
Comics need to be less like movies, more like design/architecture. People need to pay more attention to beats, rhythms and structure (not story but page/book structure). Decompression doesn't mean a slow moving snoozefest, it just means that moments need space to breathe.
Functional depression is weird. You can work, but every hour or so you put your pen down, stare at nothing, snap out, go back to work. You go meet friends, but every now and then the mask cracks, you excuse yourself, glue it back, head back in.

Thread: The Orientalizing of Moulana Rumi
Many of you may be familiar with the 'Rumi quotes' that circulate the internet. What if I told you the vast majority of them are fake and they are part of a project to secularize Rumi? This isn't a whatsapp conspiracy.
I never got this. I don't care for Miller's writing but always loved his art. It's easy to shit on him as he's a douchebag, but the dude can draw physicality better than many, can design a page better than many (something that many mainstream cartoonists just don't do).
Just finished reading Jack, a mini comic by Megan Llewellyn. The texture of the drawings parallels the murky mood this comic carries. Go get yourself a copy from Short box comics fair.
Devilman commission. Pen on paper.
Commission slots for this month are full. Will open for September at the end of this month. Thank you all for your great response.
