The Jan 2021 issue does an outstanding job of clearly describing 3 ways covid subverts the immune system and possible markers to identify those more at risk. I have not been a reader of SciAm previously but I'm loving their summary format and looking forward to upcoming issues!
We are now beginning to understand why SARS-CoV-2 results in wildly different degrees of illness. For some patients, an unbridled immune response causes damage throughout the body, producing blood clots, heart damage and even organ failure.
