Whether it was for cofounding a non-profit, applying to assistant professor and then to rank, increasing muscle mass, family meal planning, or helping others reach their goals, I have used this goal setting framework for the last 8 years. Try it out! ⤵️ https://t.co/fqTAUN4JF3

Setting goals isn’t just to do more. It’s also reminds us of when to do less. In the last week, I decided to resign from my office physician leadership role in Jan 2025. Here’s why I am stepping down… https://t.co/ccUvkDB5PN

I love hearing their answers bc it helps me understand their life experience & what they are thinking or what challenges they are facing so that we can work together to overcome them. And they really do have the best ideas for solutions. Do you like these questions, too? 4/4

I use this to help patients make progress on things like sleep hygiene, meal planning (yes, even teens can meal plan starting with what snacks they pack for school or work), executive fx, & quitting/decreasing substance use. 3/ #teenmentalhealth #patientadvocacy #meded

That’s just 2nd to best. THIS one is my number one FAVE: What would make that a 6 or 7 for you? This question helps me understand their barriers to being successful on the plan we co-created. & that allows us to problem solve to increase their chance of making progress. 2/

My fave 2 motivational interview question to ask teen patients: On a scale of 1-10, 10 being DEFINITELY going to do this & 1 being nah, how likely are you to do this? It helps them commit to something specific & it’s easy… if they don’t know, they can just guess a number. 1/

I am not any more focused or smarter than anyone. In fact, I’m very scattered brained. But I just trust the process, so if I can use this checklist to set and reach my goals, so can anyone. We got this! 🙌 5/5

I have been setting intentional goals over the last few years and follow the same process with much success. I thought it would be fun to share a goal in progress. If you want to follow the process for your own goals, check out the checklist I made. 4/

Here are the first 2 things I will do to start - email the promotions advisor at my hospital to set up a meeting to review possible activities I can pursue to get promoted. I will also set up meeting with 2-3 full prof pediatricians to learn from their experience applying. 3/

Here is my why - this is important, bc when the journey gets difficulty, I can still believe in my why to keep me going - and that is to stretch myself in writing and learning. Also to be available to support others going through the process. 2/

Hello pediatrician friends! If you are at the AAP conference, come to my talk on psychotherapy tools we can use to help our patients. I’m co-presenting with a therapist. I’m learning so from preparing it with her, too! Let’s learn together! #aap24 #aap2024 #pediatrics #nemours

I did it! I got promoted to associate professor rank! After 5 years, the minimum amount of time, and intentional planning and goal setting, and one rejected application in the prior cycle, the committee passed me! 1/2

Finished a talk on motivational interviewing for the AAP’s mental health course. So thrilled & honored to present on this topic, sharing how we make patients the captains of their mental health journey and empower them to make healthier choices for their brain and emotions. 1/2
