In other news, Julio César Chávez Jr - the son of the legendary boxer - has been detained and is being deported to Mexico, according to DHS. Chavez has an arrest warrant in MX for organised crime, firearms, ammunition and explosives. DHS alleges he's linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.

Lawyers for Kilmar Ábrego García have alleged that assaults from guards left him with visible injuries within a day of his arrival at the CECOT prison, and that he was "forced to kneel" from 9 PM to 6 AM, "with guards striking anyone who fell from exhaustion".

On the point of self-deportations: Noem and Trump repeatedly said that "many" had already done so. I asked how many. Noem responded "hundreds of thousands" before saying "a million" - she said the government doesn't have complete data.
