As usual, public discussion of reprogenetics brings up many risks and critiques that I agree with--but is still morally deranged because it begins and ends with vague negativity. Wise, life-affirming bioethics requires comparing likely costs and benefits!.

For better or for worse, trying to understand the world by believing in accordance with hype does not work very well.

Short Sleep Variants Do Not Replicate. In March Kristjan Moore from deCODE genetics emailed me urging me to stop working on short sleep. I read paper in question since Jan, but was still hoping/coping that maybe NPSR1 variant (not included in the paper) would replicate.

Health is wealth, as they say. So widely distributing health is widely distributing wealth. Far from increasing inequality, reprogenetic technology can be one of the most democratic technologies ever--if we don't restrict it to only rich people who can fly to an island somewhere.

New essay: "Genomic emancipation". What's the vision motivating reprogenetic technology? My simple answer is genomic emancipation:. Empowering parents to make genomic choices on behalf of their future children. I'll read out the main part of the essay on Sunday, +Q&A. Links⬇️
