I đź’š Compost. Hearing that Mayor Adams is eliminating NYC community composting programs and @GrowNYC funding is devastating. These organizations divert more than 8 million pounds of organic waste from landfills each year. Cutting community composting and outreach programs will

There are some people who can afford to take $0 salary with little life impact, and some who can’t. If those who can’t are kept out of entrepreneurship, that would be a really bad thing!

The world is starting to change how it produces and uses energy, replacing the dirty fuel powering the global economy with cleaner substitutes. Central to that effort are critical metals necessary...

Two big challenges to eliminating fossil fuels: 1. Solar power only when sun shine, wind power only when wind blow 2. Some manufacturers that need heat onsite lack non-fossil options @CacheEnergy is looking to solve both of those problems - a company to watch!

We're excited to announce @CacheEnergy's $4.5M round alongside Grantham Foundation and @cantos. Cache Energy is simultaneously solving for renewable industrial heat and long-duration energy storage, with a zero-emissions "fuel." Full announcement: https://t.co/OhGvuYIQSI

We're investing to convert Eastern Kentucky’s Starfire coal mine into an 800 MW solar farm in collaboration with @nature_org and site developer BrightNight. As we accelerate the transition to EVs, it’s critical to partner on responsible ways to power them. https://t.co/KxsxgoxE1e

Reminder that Russia’s economy and global influence are built on exporting oil and gas, and this is one of many reasons the world should transition off of oil and gas 👍

Bottom line: the world needs to mitigate emissions, not offset them. Hopefully cars like this one I saw- in a smoke-filled NYC, with a memorable license plate- will be a relic of the past soon enough, as the world works to actually reduce emissions, not just try to “offset” them.

Most oil companies’ net zero targets are weighted very heavily towards buying offsets. That won’t cut it. And just last week, Delta Airlines was sued because its carbon neutrality claims - which are largely tied to paying to protect forests - are likely not legitimate.

The big takeaway is that we can’t offset our way to net zero emissions. Urgent action needs to be taken to actually reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in the power sector, transportation, buildings, industry and agriculture. The bulk of this is eliminating fossil fuels ASAP.

There’s a small takeaway and a big takeaway from this. The small takeaway is that the current carbon offset system needs to be made more transparent, reliable, and standardized...

To be sure, not all carbon offsets are linked to protecting trees. And some offsets that are tree-linked are legitimately protecting at-risk forested areas. But there’s still very little transparency in most cases around the carbon offsets we purchase.

We don’t have good data out of Canada yet, but we know that two years ago, 153,000 acres of forests that were part of California’s carbon offset program burned, plus another 100,000 in Oregon.
