Earlier on this week... cloudy skies everywhere... bit of a grim week with 4 days of signalling faults and a points failure. The points failure did give me an unexpectedly clear trip via Seven Sisters, thankfully the signaller held a couple overgrounds to let me go first!

720 549 led 515 on 1B21 SSD-LST. Nice set of units paired together. Some of these 720s paired together can be a bit juddery under braking but these were lovely and smooth. Note being right at the end of P1 occupying 1B and 1C, 755418 occupied 1A to Norwich on 1K92

The day has suddenly got better, lovely driver cut me out of the last bit if my job as we had plenty spares today. Out of a Stortford-London-Stortford, should get home a healthy 1hr 30 mins earlier 😊
Ill never understand someone running across a foot crossing with a train approaching in the pouring rain and slippy conditions. Slipped and woosh ya dead. Brain cells on some people must come at a bloody premium!!!

You say good morning, I say goodnight at 7:30am... The only negative of nights is sleeping in the days. I'd love to hear people's thoughts on nights on the railways, if that's a shift on nights or silly o'clock start/finish with 24hr sign on.

Interesting night last night to say the least on the lodge job... late start due to a poorly passenger meant I got out of London behind a Cheshunt stopper rather than being infront of it as planned, thanks to engineering works, no opportunity to get back ahead. Same job tonight!

Morning from me at depot on this cloudy Sunday morning. Sadly my first Stadler failed at Stansted, so currently awaiting instructions for what will happen with the unit when its finally moving. Sit back and relax for now I guess!

Been a busy start to 2026 and not updated here! I'm happy to report I have signed off my last route needed for my depot to cover all jobs. I now sign Ilford depot and the route to & from via Stratford. Been a fast paced 5 shifts of route learning but happy its now done!

Welcome back to Liverpool Street While we were closed for 8 days we replaced 224 roof panels and 53 access hatches We also removed the platform 7-8 scaffolding, and it's now obvious how much more light is streaming in. Here's to brighter journeys in 2026 ☀️ #ChristmasRailWorks

Just as the clocks turned into Christmas Day, the #CambridgeC3R team at Cambridge signal box have been busy disconnecting the old NX signalling panel from the network in readiness to replace it with new digital workstations over the next 11 days. #ChristmasRailWorks

Turn 1 of 2 before christmas. Today's nice short 6hr job doing a round and a half of Cambridges. 720 136 forms 2H57 CBG-LST. Bonus I got platform 3 at Cambridge for my 26 minute turnaround, which is rare for my depot! Photos taken whilst not undertaking safety critical work

Latest update, no trains expected until what is likely to be after Christmas at this rate #RyeHouse
⚠️A burst water main at #RyeHouse has caused flooding of the railway line and damage to the station, closing all lines at this station ❌As a result of this, trains are unable to run between Broxbourne and Hertford East, and will either be cancelled in full or revised to run

Apologies to everyone on the Hertford branch today. Here's the scenes earlier today... News is that the line is expected to be closed until the weekend following a severe watermain burst flooding the line, damaging signalling equipment as well as road bridge has become unstable

On annual leave this week so apologies for lack of posts. Yesterday I took an amazing opportunity to do a Hidden London Underground tour of Baker Street. Its amazing the original area is still used 150 years on (with updates ofc). Its an awesome experience people must do!
