Hibs are a really decent side but Motherwell forced them into a maddening first half, and total domination followed. Stephen Welsh is caviar. Five changes and not one player missed a beat. So impressive on and off the ball. Saturday vs Hearts set to be a cracker.

Big tests for Jens Berthel Askou and Motherwell ahead after tonight at Hampden. Outthought and outplayed by St Mirren, who fully deserved to go through, and will fancy chances in final. Now on Motherwell to respond after template to beat them put out. Still positives overall.

The Apostolos Stamatelopouolos journey to golden boot begins now. Just hasn’t been happening for him despite running himself into the ground every week. Goal and winner should kick him on.

The draw St Mirren and Motherwell wanted. A cracking one for both to look forward to. I’d be stunned if authorities put Celtic vs Rangers into Saturday night slot (first semi has been early evening Saturday last few seasons) so taking an educated guess the derby will be second.

Stephen Welsh with a solid shift at the back for Motherwell, considering he played the full game in his slippers. A win that’s been coming for about a month and clean sheet massive. A platform to build from. Aberdeen 😳

Actually think that's as decent an option as Motherwell could get this late into window. Overall, think there's lots to be positive about with recruitment the club have managed. Fadinger, Just, Watt and Longelo immediately integral players with others still getting up to speed.

Seldom have I watched Motherwell at any point dominate somewhere like Tynecastle than first hour today. Unbelievable at points. Added the end product they lacked but Claudio Braga nearly single handily dragged Hearts back into it. Whatever this season is, it’ll not be boring.

It was great hearing again from Michael Wimmer and Dan Casey for the first time after their Motherwell exits. Clear that Wimmer is gutted to have left at such an early juncture but needs must, and Casey very appreciative of time at Fir Park. Will be out somewhere down the line.

"If he had 100 passes, he completed 99 passes to the teammate. This is not normal for a young guy.” A long read on Lennon Miller's journey to Serie A and why he's bound to thrive in Italy 🇮🇹 Insight from Dan Casey, David Clarkson and Michael Wimmer. https://t.co/772dxiEcy5

Motherwell the better team overall vs St Johnstone and deservedly progress but need for forward reinforcements is clear. Add that and will be well placed for season ahead. Defensively have looked very solid over opening matches and seeing fewer mistakes with every match.

For Motherwell, important now to use the finances that come with this to build for the long term. Made a huge amount in fees over recent years relative to size of club, so hopefully can build something to show for all hard work that's gone into obtaining said deals.

The way Lennon Miller has conducted himself through this full summer to the point he's now officially broken Motherwell's transfer record is him all over the back. As mature an 18-year-old you'll meet, and probably best player I've watched at Fir Park. Bound for a huge future.

The most exciting thing about Motherwell’s performance is there are still elements that can be improved. A strong performance and deserved to beat Rangers, bravery to play style they have in League Cup is a credit to manager. J Koutroumbis and L Fadinger two of my standouts.
