It is Holocaust Remembrance Day and I would like to post some thoughts. My first thought is that we do not remember anymore. My second thought is that we have never remembered well enough. People have become quiet, perhaps fearing that remembering 6 million dead entails some

The response for #belsen80 has been incredible. Thank you. Our email, mainly from X, is pretty full. We’ll respond to every single one in due course. 80 years on and we still learn. #belsen #holocaust @Baddiel @Dannythefink

#belsen there is no memorial, no mention to service personnel at Belsen. It has been 80 years.

Despite the annual britishness tweets of the liberation of Belsen, there is no memorial at the site for all the nationalities who went to help.

80 years today #belsen. Liberated by the Allies, as British and Canadian personnel were present. Later American personnel would also help with the huge humanitarian effort. #bergenbelsen

Ian Forsyth MBE was one of the first British troops to liberate Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, 80 years ago tomorrow. He said upon arriving there: "For the first time, I realised how low mankind could sink".

80 years ago today, (the 12th April, 1945), a truce. The very first allied soldier entered the camp, to ensure the truce was not a trick. The liberation itself, with service personnel and ultimately assistance, would take a couple more days. #belsen @Baddiel @simon_schama

#WhatTheyFound and #HolocaustMemorialDay has really helped the archive. Clearly the 80th anniversary has been at the forefront. It’s incredible what we know now that we didn’t for the 75th. Thanks to @Baddiel for the exposure. Drop us a line if you’d like to learn more.
