My Monday meditation: “I’m a river flowing, I can’t recall or see where I’m going, though the wind it keeps blowing, I’d rather be unsure than always be knowing.”

I think the going to war metaphor works for anything we’re tempted to substitute our families for, ironically, often under the guise of doing it for them. Been having some fun fleshing out this tongue in cheek tune called “Country First.”

My debut short story collection, Maybe It's Not Too Late, is out today. I've been working on these stories for the last six years, so it feels good to finally launch them into the world, in one place, between two covers. To order a copy, click here: https://t.co/GdW40D3blU

I had a conversation with a friend recently about how thankful I am that I’ll never have to face the call to serve my country in a war…which inspired the writing for this tongue-in-cheek song called, “Country First.”

I asked my dad one day why he hadn’t made it a point in his life to travel to other countries. He said, “Because South Africa’s the most beautiful country in the world.” Natures Valley was his heaven on earth. Mine too. #southafrica #heaven #naturesvalley

Last week, my wife left me with all four girls for four days to go on a trip. I don’t even know how to put my daughters’ hair in a ponytail. On night three, while the girls were watching their 17th episode of Bluey, I picked up my guitar and let it all pour out.

The present moment never lasts, as it perpetually yields to the future, becoming what we call the past. Time’s own revealing of life, death, resurrection.
