If Ss can't paraphrase a math text/word problem in their own words (without the numbers), they probably do not understand it. We must teach the reading for meaning of word problems first (like we teach reading for meaning for all other texts) LONG before Ss start solving them.

Students @MontclairPS enjoyed throwing water balloons at their favourite teachers, and other fun activities (including hide and seek:) after we fundraised for the Jump Rope for Heart. Thanks to all the parents for their generous donations for a good cause.

Gr 2s and Gr 3s Primary Eco Club in action! We rolled up the sleeves to get our hands dirty in the @MontclairPS Learning Garden. We transplanted the seedlings from our classroom and carefully planted and watered them last week. Now, we will patiently watch them grow with us!

We met the Ecosystem engineers-the earthworms today. Gr 3s @MontclairPS had another interactive virtual field trip organized by @AgScapeON with a Kitchener Worm Farm. Did you know that not all worms are suitable for composting? Ask your child what they learned today!

Never ending fun! Intermediate Bracelet-making Club lead by Ms. Johnston and Ms. Semotok @MontclairPS every Tuesday. Students develop a high level of hand-eye coordination as well as fine motor, visual-perceptual, and sorting skills

#PrimaryEcoClub Seeds have germinated; grown into seedlings; and while waiting to be transplanted to the Learning Garden @MontclairPS , Gr 3 is experimenting with leftover kitchen veg scraps or regrow them. Will we succeed?
