On this International Day of Education, I'm reflecting on the unwavering dedication of educators worldwide who not only teach but also protect and support their students daily. I look forward to continued collaboration with @eduint to champion and uplift educators everywhere.

Two students have been shot in their school cafeteria in Nashville—a space meant for learning and connection, not violence. We cannot accept this as normal. Our students deserve safety, not fear. We must act to end gun violence.

We lost a fearless leader and tireless advocate of women's rights today. Cecile Richards’ contributions to social justice are felt by so many and her legacy will continue to inspire us.

Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. In this moment, I return to his words: 'The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends towards justice.' I can hear his voice calling us to action. Together, we will be the ones to bend it.

For the past four years, we have had an NEA member in the White House, quite literally. Thank you, @DrBiden, for your decades of service advocating for students, educators, and public schools.

Every American, no matter their race or sex, deserves equal rights and protections under the law. The Equal Rights Amendment deserves its rightful place in our constitution.

Our students deserve to be safe. For the past four years, @KamalaHarris has led the charge on gun violence prevention. Thanks to her and Pres. Biden, we passed the most significant gun safety law in 30 years. Our work together will continue.

As President Joe Biden said in his farewell address last night, we are the keepers of the flame. Thank you, President Biden, for your relentless advocacy for students, educators, and unions.

As we head into the second half of the school year, don't forget that NEA has plentiful resources for educators of all kinds.

To deliver better pay and respect for educators, safer schools, and smaller class sizes means coming together to elect candidates that share our values. @BenWikler has a proven record building and motivating a diverse coalition to vote. I am proud to support him for DNC Chair.

NEA has long advocated for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, this news is very welcome. Many educators feel a deep connection to the children & educators of this region. We are hopeful an end to violence along w/ release of hostages will finally lead us toward lasting peace.

All students deserve to participate fully in our public schools, including trans students. Attempts to ban them from after-school activities is a distraction from the real issues facing our students, like large class sizes, educator shortages, and gun violence.

Educators, we've made historic progress over the past four years: safer schools, expanded school meals, mental health supports, and life-changing student debt relief. Now, we must protect this progress and stop efforts to turn public schools into private profit centers.
