My wise mother reminded me people have survived political & economic upheaval before. "Back when I was a newlywed, the interest rates for a mortgage or car loan was 17%." I rescued my husband from the middle of nowhere VT & married him in 2017. Look for the good. Be the good.

Ooh lordy this aged quickly. Now I'm in a newly merged department & no longer the head of a tiny department of two employees (including myself). But I'm also an interim head overseeing 3 FT employees. There's still room to move up the career ladder if I wanted (not right now tho)
@Jsmeth_ I’ll be happy still being in my role at the same institution in 10 years 😄 any upward movement means becoming an assist. or assoc. dean, as I’m a department head at this point. And any upward movement in my profession + higher ed may mean moving to a new place again. Sigh. Nope.

First day of fall semester classes as interim head of the special collections department at my work, without training wheels (i.e., without my coworker who had the job previously 😢). Wish me luck! 🍀

My hubs & I watched Deadpool & Wolverine this past weekend. And yes I did silently sing along to the songs I knew, thanks to Rock Band and being a 2000s kid once. 🎵🎶

I think WHY I got in trouble was that other students saw what I was doing & started doodling too. Then some students saw what everyone else was doing & got upset. I don't know why a 1st grade teacher thought an activity w/ photocopied portraits was a good idea.

I was anxiety ridden & only had 2 "yellow lights" in 1st grade. One of them makes me realize I had ADHD back then: Photocopied portraits of our classmates. So bored I doodled cat ears & whiskers on one of the portraits. Would have doodled on all of them had teacher not noticed.

BTW, my two departments have been moving backlog boxes into our Robot warehouse system ahead of our archives storage area getting a makeover starting after graduation. Special Collections is pretty much done. UA is halfway done loading... at 393 boxes. #thatarchiveslife
