There are three different categories in our fiber network- long-haul fiber, middle-mile fiber, and last-mile fiber. @ADECA has awarded grants to build out Alabama's middle-mile and last-mile fiber networks, which connect large cities with smaller communities and individual homes.

Last month, @ADECA announced the federal approval of Alabama's $1.4 billion #broadbandexpansion plan. These funds will help internet service providers build out our state's last-mile broadband network, connecting Alabama addresses to high-speed internet. ⬇️

Alabama's fiber optic network can be viewed as the road system that delivers high-speed internet to the end user. Building upon the state's current network is a crucial part of Alabama's #broadbandexpansion efforts.
