I basically never ever agree, but I understand how an artist needs to have strong stylistic beliefs for their own work to have a specific voice in it.

Wanted to give it some space after the Gail Kim pile-on, because some amount of that backlash was warranted, but mostly I understand a wrestler being very adverse to styles that are diametrically opposite their own. I think a near-religious focus on their own style makes sense.

The NEXT next FREEDOMS card in the lot is the 2018 Blood X-Mas, and the card is sick. Takeda vs Kasai series continues on from their Tokyo Deathmatch Carnival classic, but also Macizos vs Los Nomadas sounds good as fuck. Can't wait to see this one.

The next disc up in the 15 FREEDOMS shows I picked up is the 2018 Tokyo Deathmatch Carnival, but I'm gonna skip that one because I'm very familiar with it already. That one is on YouTube fairly consistently, and features possibly my favorite match of all time as its main event.

Fucking awesome, Jack retains in this one. The other bout I've seen between him and Kasai from 2021 was him dropping it back to Kasai, glad to see him go over in this one. He had a great victory over Takeda in that 2021 run though, a few months before losing to Kasai.

There's something about how large and squared-up Violento Jack's frame is, his center of gravity being so solid but his also being so tall. His forearms and high kicks look just devastating. One of my favorite wrestlers today.
