This logic is antithetical to art btw. Mr. Freeze — and his origin that everyone now takes as gospel and has become inseparable from the character — would not exist if B:TAS followed this logic.
If an adaptation fundamentally changes everything about a character then the depiction isn’t good.

The wildest part about this is that Batman is also the epitome of hope. People just focus on the grimdark side of him way too much
DC building their brand on Batman, has done fundamental damage to the DC universe. DC is THE hopeful universe, but the insistence on pushing Batman-related media, in the wake of TDKR has damaged public perception in comics and adaptations.

Bringing this back because I feel like people forget or don’t know the fact that Robin has been around for like 90% of Batman’s existence.
Robin debuted in April of 1940 in Detective Comics #38. Batman existed for barely more than a year before Robin was there as an integral part of the character and his mythos.
