Seasonal patterns are shifting. The cycles of Gu’ and Deyr that #Somali communities relied on for generations are becoming unpredictable. We are already seeing prolonged #droughts and heavier #floods, while the world remains off track in cutting the emissions driving this crisis.

…2/2 This marks the end of a long process of consultation and legal review. The finalized Constitution strengthens government institutions, protects citizens’ rights, and brings hope for progress, prosperity, and national unity.

1/2 Today is a historic day and a new chapter for the Federal Republic of Somalia. Both Houses of Parliament, the House of the People and the Upper House, have officially approved a completed Constitution that had been in draft for almost 14 years.

I had a productive meeting with Mr. Hameed Nuru, @WFPSomalia Country Director, at MoECC HQ to strengthen collaboration on climate adaptation, food security, migration, and drought response, reaffirming our commitment to safeguard lives, livelihoods, and resilience in Somalia.

I was pleased to host a farewell and appreciation dinner in Mogadishu for the FMS of Environment. The evening reflected our shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between federal and state institutions to advance environmental governance and climate action in 🇸🇴 .

..2/2 We explored opportunities for technical cooperation, institutional partnerships, and advancing the pending Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support joint climate and environmental initiatives aligned with our shared strategic priorities.

1/2 Held a constructive meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, H.E. Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadli. Discussions focused on shared environmental and climate challenges, and on strengthening bilateral cooperation in environmental protection.

2/2 Climate change is hitting our people hard, but we’re committed to working with Galmudug and local leaders to fight desertification and support communities to adapt and stay resilient.

1/2 Today I visited Hobyo, Xinbarwaaqo, and Ceelhuur and met communities already feeling the effects of climate change. Seeing it firsthand and hearing people’s stories makes the challenge very real.

Today, I paid an official visit to the Ministry of Defence and met with Defence Minister @AhmedMoFiqi and the leadership of the Somali National Army. We discussed strengthening cooperation on environmental sustainability and national security.

I delivered Somalia’s National Statement at UNEA-7, reaffirming our commitment to turning climate challenges into opportunities for resilience, green growth, and sustainable development. Somalia fully supports UNEA-7 resolutions and global cooperation. #ClimateAction #UNEA7

I addressed the 2025 Climate and Clean Air Ministerial, highlighting Somalia’s urgent efforts to reduce air pollution, strengthen climate resilience, and promote a healthier, sustainable future for our communities. #Somalia #Climate
