Babe Ruth hit 665 of his 714 home runs during the live ball era (starting 1920)… against 80 mph pitching. (still the goat, but let’s not blow it out of proportion).
@nut_history @hochalicious Now imagine if Babe played in today's ballparks and not in the dead ball era. Not to mention played every day from 1914-1918. Just goes to show you how incredible he was.

The bigger issue is how different modern “batting practice” is compares real game pitching. Requires a much different attack angle for optimal hitting… and timing up a BP thrower is WAY different than timing up a real pitcher trying to get you out.
Line drives in BP turn into 2B's and HR's in a game. BP fly balls and homers are outs in a game.
