I was asked about BC's latest announcement re: renewable energy. It proves a commitment to 'going green' as it's 100% recycled from a few months ago. Meanwhile, contracts from the 2024 Call for Power are not yet approved by the BC Utilities Commission:.

‘Hats off’ to Matt Morrison and the @PNWER team on a successful 34th Annual Summit! . They’ve grown in depth since I first attended 29 years ago. Best = friendships formed throughout the region, especially with Matt and his amazing family.

“I am a very pragmatic person,” Industry Minister Joly said. “It’s not the goal of the government to be disconnected from reality when it comes to what is going on across the country…there has been a drop in sales of electric vehicles and 25% tariffs.”.

Sales of zero-emission vehicles, which include battery & plug-in hybrid vehicles, fell by 32% in May from a year ago to 7.9% of all new car sales, Statistics Canada says. BC’s mandates call for 26% EV sales for the 2026 model year versus 20% federally.

Who will acknowledge reality first? The federal government, or the BC government which has even more aggressive (unrealistic) electric vehicle mandates?.

Who knew? BC Government acknowledges it will be "challenging" to reach target that 90 per cent of new vehicles be zero emission by 2030:.

According to documents, the BC Government knows the electric vehicle (EV) mandates are not achievable. The 26% EV sales requirement applies now to new 2026 models arriving on dealer's lots. Details here: .

Under B.C. law, 26 per cent of new vehicle sales must be electric vehicles by 2026, but industry analysts say that is increasingly unrealistic.

BC legislation mandates 26% EV sales by the 2026 model year (these vehicles are arriving now on dealers' lots), with potential penalties of $20,000 per vehicle that does not comply. Achievable?

Electric Vehicle (EV) sales are dropping across Canada, including here in BC. This means government mandates (26% EV sales required in BC for the 2026 model year) are on a collision course with reality.

BC has 450+ megawatts of existing power generation capacity that has been in use, but the government's CleanBC policy says it must be shut down because it's from natural gas. Meanwhile, BC Hydro is looking for more capacity.

Hmmm. near the end of this article, there are comments about BC Hydro increasingly looking east (Alberta) for power where 75% of the electricity generated last year came from natural gas. a power source which is being banned in BC next year.
