As #StormBram hit the Western Isles yesterday (9th December), two stations on Barra recorded gusts over 80mph. Garrygall saw the peak at 87mph (8:29pm), followed by Castlebay Pier at 83mph (9:00pm).

#StormAmy The highest winds yesterday were reported in Castlebay, with gust of 87mph just after 8:00pm. Barra narrowly missed the most intense wind speeds; Tiree recorded 102mph gust. While Rùm, Eigg, and Mull, experienced over 90mph, parts of Skye had gusts ranging 70 to 112mph.

#StormAmy Gusts 50-60 mph this Friday afternoon. Peak winds expected 7pm to 9pm with gusts of 70-80 mph, and possibly over 90 mph for a time. Strong winds continue all night but decreasing in speed.

#StormFloris arrives Monday. SE winds increase tonight with gusts to 40mph by 4am. Monday morning gusts 45-55mph. Peak gusts late morning/early afternoon 60-70mph, potentially 80mph in exposed parts, from the W/NW. Winds decrease to 50-60mph in the afternoon, 35-45mph by evening.

The station in Castlebay recorded a gust of 69mph at 9am and 12pm. The good news is this Sunday evening we'll finally see the winds begin to ease, with gusts expected to be just under 60mph by 6pm and around 40mph by 9pm, continuing to decrease overnight.

79mph gust record on Barra today in Castlebay. Strong northwesterly gusts of 55-65mph will persist through Saturday night into early Sunday morning. Gusts will then increase to 60-70mph on Sunday morning into the early afternoon, finally easing off in the evening.

High winds have been recorded this morning: 75mph gust in Castlebay around 9am and 76mph in South Uist. Gusts of 60-70 mph from the West are expected for the rest of Saturday, with potential for gusts over 70mph again on the latter part of Sunday morning into early afternoon.

Stormy weekend ahead. Strong winds are expected from Sat early morning, gusts 50-60mph, increasing to 60-70mph later in the morning and for the rest of the day. Windy on Sunday too (60-70mph).

#StormBert is arriving Friday night. Expect winds to increase overnight, with gusts reaching 60-70 mph from 7am to 10am Saturday, and possibly over 70 mph in exposed areas. Winds will decrease after 10am but remain strong with gusts at 40-50 mph throughout the day.

#StormAshley Yesterday evening the weather station in Allasdale recorded a gust of 79mph. The closest Met Office station to Barra in South Uist reported a gust of 75mph.

#StormAshley update: Allasdale recorded a 70mph gust this morning. Winds will rise again this afternoon, with southerly gusts of 60-70 mph, shifting to 65-75mph in the evening, and possibly up to 80mph in exposed areas. A high tide will coincide with peak wind speeds tonight.

#StormAshley on Sunday. Early morning winds from the SE will reach 50-60mph, with some areas up to 65mph. From 11am to 2pm, gusts drop to 45-55mph. From 3pm onward, gusts of 65-75mph, possibly reaching 80mph in exposed areas. High tides will also occur during these strong winds.

A 64mph gust was reported on Barra in Allasdale this afternoon, and 73mph at the weather station in Eriskay. The wind is easing off now, but expect gusts around 35mph this evening and tonight.

Thursday night, gusts 30mph, reaching 45mph by 6am Friday. From 6am to 3pm, expect gusts of 50-60mph from the southeast, with some areas possibly exceeding 60mph. By 3 or 4pm, winds will shift to the southwest and drop to around 30mph gusts for the rest of the afternoon.
