For the regulars around here, I just wanted to let you know my dear friend and partner in comics, Holmes!, lost his battle with cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by love. Sharing old comics and hearing from folks here brought him joy, thank you to all who sent kind messages

Mr. Skygack discovers coal. I can't recall seeing him comment on race, so I'm thinking the reference is to the worker being completely covered in coal dust, but I suppose it is open to interpretation. A.D. Condo, Mr. Skygack, From Mars October 7, 1909
