Honored to receive the Winston Award from @ArlingtonBarVA. Judge Winston was a trail blazer for democratic ideals, social justice & the rule of law. I am committed to making these ideals live. TY to Paul Ferguson, Darcy Hubbard and @SenatorHashmi for participating in the program.

Congresswoman Luria served our region with distinction on the J6 committee and she has my full endorsement to return to Congress. Stay tuned next year for some new district lines as well which may be helpful. 10-1.
I have served our country and Virginia since I was 17 years old, spending 20 years in the Navy & 4 years in Congress representing Hampton Roads. Service to our country means putting the interests of the people above all else–including political parties. https://t.co/TuidueqlDr

Take a moment today to thank a veteran & veterans’ family members for their service & sacrifice. We must never forget that freedom is not free. I’m proud that VA is #1 in veteran’s services for the over 670,000 veterans living in VA. Access resources here: https://t.co/uBNDYZiqjp

It’s time for Republican lawmakers to listen to their voters and show some compassion for the struggles real folks are facing. Tuesday’s elections tell a bipartisan story. Now Congress must act.

Democrats present a pathway for reopening the government by offering Americans an additional year of affordable heath care. But Republican lawmakers say “No.” — Really?
nytimes.com
After weeks of stalemate, Senate Democrats said they were willing to reopen the government in exchange for a one-year extension of health care subsidies. Republicans ruled it out.

This is a resolution of hope & empowerment. We should never be afraid to give voters an opportunity to hold lawmakers accountable & to advocate for programs that help Virginians achieve financial security. Watch my floor speech here: https://t.co/0kHfDlOPSZ

We are NOT overturning the will of the people. Virginians would ultimately have to decide if the General Assembly should be granted this one-time, narrow authority.

Thankfully no one was hurt on the @winwithwinsome bus when it caught on fire this afternoon. Voter outreach is an important part of all campaigns, and I’m relieved to everyone is okay. Best wishes to Winsome and her team for a safe conclusion to her campaign.

So let me get this straight: Donald Trump sent $20 BILLION (in U.S. taxpayer dollars) to help his friend out in Argentina, but refuses — yes, he is literally refusing — to use funds available to make sure food keeps flowing to hungry families across America. This is appalling.

We expect to vote on the language this Friday, the first part of a multi-step process that will require the final approval of Virginia voters. See more here:

Right now, several Virginia Democrats want to redraw lines to give their party a chance to flip the state’s five GOP-held congressional seats.

The Senate is set to review HJ6007. We are considering this option b/c Trump is trying to memorialize his unpopular policies that are hurtful to many Virginians and undermine the democratic process by urging R states to redraw districts.
