Every student prepared for a world powered by computing
There needs to be a concerted effort to redefine CS as not just a technical discipline but one that includes topics in sociology, psychology, & philosophy; the kinds of topics (on ethics among others) previously only taught in #HCI. @TheOfficialACM needs to lead the charge!

“It’s okay to go slow to go fast.” We don’t have to feel compelled to give into the push to immediately integrate AI in K-12 education. @kipglazer urges us to be thoughtful, deliberate. #CSTA2024

So honored that @natashanyt volunteered her time to moderate this keynote panel on teaching CS in an age of AI. She prefaced the discussion with some of her @nytimes reporting on the impact of AI and CS in K-12 schools. This one is particularly haunting: https://t.co/YgG3kZgWwC

At #CSTA2024, @CCrawfordTech says the purpose of CS education is not just critical thinking, not just learning to program, but using CS for social good and to have a better life.

We don’t teach computing in order to create an army of programmers. We teach computing because it’s a way of thinking, a way of solving problems. —@MehranSahami at #CSTA2024
