The good news continues to roll from BMG! Drs. Watson and Smith receiving R24 funding on their project “Population genotyping of the germline immunoglobulin repertoire in AIDS-designated rhesus macaque breeding colonies” from NIH. Rock on Drs. Watson and Smith!!!.

Great news for our grad student Jordan Noe!!! He won the inaugural innovation startup, CardStart. His startup is aimed at developing a new cell-based therapy for the treatment of aggressive solid tumors. Way to go Jordan!!!!

Dr. Lovely @TheLovelyLab has recently published 3 manuscripts. 1st in @JoVEJournal. 2nd as co-1st author in @ACERjournal. 3rd is a review in Birth Defects Research.

Congrats Dr. Lyndsay Reynolds from the Clem lab. She successfully defended her dissertation "The Retinoblastoma Protein Mediates Metabolic Reprogramming in Lung Cancer" and will be moving just down the road to @universityofky as a post-doc fellow!.

Been a busy spring semester here at @BMGUofL1. We have had 4 great seminars since the beginning of Feb. Dr. Andrew Ewald @HopkinsMedicine, Dr. Balamurugan Appakalai @uoflhsc, Dr. Julia van Kessel @Biolluminator and Dr. Suzanne De la Monte @BrownUniversity.

Our own Dr. Carolyn Klinge has been acknowledged for a top cited / viewed 2019 paper from Endocrine-Related Cancer describing Non-coding RNAs in endocrine related cancers. Way to go Dr. Klinge!.

It is recruitment season here at the @BMGUofL1! Our first round of interviewees arrive today (more to come in a few weeks). We are excited about a potential prospects and look forward to the continued growth of our Dept!.

Next week, we have Dr. Michell Block @MicroglialCells who will be speaking on Microglia and the Lung-Brain Axis.

We've been a little twitter silent lately, but time to tweet about our seminars. We had 2 excellent seminars this semester so far. 1st on 1/13 from @LindaColumbus on how membrane proteins work in host – pathogen Interactions.

Our students have been giving their research conferences, updating the dept about the great work they have been doing on their projects. We still have more talks to come and more things to do!!!.

Been a while since we've tweeted, but we have been busy!!! We had a great seminar yesterday from Lindsey Barkse @CCHMC using zebrafish to look at evolutionary genetics. Adriaan Bax @NIH gave an excellent talk about the use of NMR in uncovering the protein folding states.

We now have a new Dr. in the house!!! Congrats to Dr. Stephanie Metcalf for successfully defending her PhD on PSAT1 in Breast Cancer Progression.
