Participants learned of the ways that gig-economy systems lack wage fairness controls seen in other economic sectors, and how contract workers are often left with limited recourse to profit off of the algorithms they depend on.

On Monday Brooklyn Law and Political Economy Collective hosted our second Second Coffee Chat of the Semester on “The Algorithmic Gamblification of Work,” inspired by Veena Dubal’s work.

Monday's event focused around the article "The Property Course as Critique" by Justin Desautels-Stein. The discussion was led by Coffee Chat Chair Scott Hale and was attended by over a dozen 1L, upperclass students and LLMs.

Coffee Chats are a signature part of BLPEC's programming and allow students and faculty to convene in an informal setting to discuss topics related to gaps and structural inequalities in law school curriculum and pedagogy.
