We are also making some cosmetic tweaks, like changing the colour palette we use on our website and across social media - it felt like the right time for a fresh coat of paint! Our website, social media handles, and email address will stay the same, so you know where to find us!.

Our old name was a mouthful, easy to confuse with other groups we work with, and it didn’t reflect our structure or goals anymore. We also took the “Canada” part out, bc we have some complicated (not-so-good) feelings about what it means to tie our identity to a nation-state.

As of 2024, we are now operating as a collective which, for us, means no more hierarchy and the dissolution of our co-chair roles. We wanted our new name to reflect that.

We’re going through some changes! TL;DR: we’ve got a new name and a new organizational structure!. We’re making some changes to how we work and how we present ourselves to the world. We’re now called the Basic Income Youth Collective (or BIYC, for short)!
