BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: CF (Carl) Schreiber (boys' track, 1909). In his lone season, BHS went 1-3-1 in dual meets and won the McLean County Meet that spring. Walter Sutherland was an all-stater for Schrieber, tying for second at the state interscholastic meet.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: Ralph (Jack) McCord (football, 1916; boys' basketball, 1916-18; boys' track, 1917). The BHS alum (class of 1906) led football to a 4-4 mark, 26-13 in basketball (including 3rd place at the 1917 state tournament, & 1-0 in track.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: Esther Mirus (girls' tennis, 1973). Our first coach of girls' tennis, the PE instructor led BHS to a 9-2 record that fall but resigned prior to the 1974 season.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: Ron Rose (boys' basketball, 2001-06). The Morton native was 102-37 with 2 Big 12 Conference titles as the 2005-06 team went to the ISU AA Super Sectional. @DodieDunson & Brandon Holtz were stalwarts for Rose, receiving all-state honors twice.

On the Raiderville scoreboard for 8/15…. Today’s boys’ golf tournament action in the Ron Schaede Memorial Invitational at the University of lllinois Orange Course was canceled due to the forecasted high heat this afternoon.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: Jean Harrison (football, 1925-30; boys' basketball, 1925-31). Coming to BHS via way from Bement, the Clinton prep led football to a 18-27-4 mark & boys' hoops to 71-58, including a 2nd-place finish at the 1930 state finals.

Ella Bloomfield was medalist with 46, followed by Audrey Elver with 50, Josie Skeate 57, & Kendall Greenlee added 64. Not counting was Georgia Solis with 69. It’s the first win for the Lady Raiders since 2020, as they welcomed back Tom Waterson as their head coach.

On the first Raiderville scoreboard for the 2025-26 school year on August 14…. Girls’ golf takes a triangular from Washington and Lincoln at the Lincoln Elks Country Club as BHS shot 217, Lincoln 222, and Washington 260.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: Russell Roberts (boys' tennis, 1932-49). Once boys' tennis was established at BHS, "Rusty" led BHS to 7 Big 12 titles & 108-46-7 mark in duals, winning at least 45 duals in row. Ebon Jones, Jr., Russell Shirk, Paul Beich, and Evan Strawn were all-staters.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: Jim Ledbetter (boys' wrestling, 1984-92). Coming in where Jim Bowers left off, Ledbetter's teams were 122-44-2 during his time as Wrestlin' Raider mentor. Jay Jensen and Danny Casey were all-staters under him as BHS also won two conference titles.

Boys' golf will open their season tomorrow afternoon on the U of I Orange Course in Savoy in the Ron Schaede Memorial Invitational hosted by Champaign Central. Rich Watson is back for his 4th season as skipper, returning Sam Thalgott, Chase Javoronok, Sam Brown, & Phillip Haning.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: WH Schilling (baseball, 1910). The Iowa native came to BHS as a professor of history and coached one year of baseball with a 2-1 record before he departed in the summer of 1910 for Duluth, MN.

Our girls' golf program will kick off the 2025-26 school year with a triangular at Lincoln with Washington & the host Lady Railers at Lincoln Elks Country Club tomorrow. Tom Waterson returns as head coach for the girls & has 5 returning letterwinners from 2024, all juniors.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: James Thompson (boys' track, 1915; boys' tennis 1915). Thompson's record is short, winning his lone dual meet over Clinton on the last event of the meet (the relay), and heading up BHS' first-ever boys' tennis team in the Corn Belt Association meet.

BHS HEAD COACH SALUTE: Ralph Yakel (football, 1912; boys' track 1913). Upon graduation from law school at Illinois Wesleyan, the football & track standout came straight to BHS to lead those sports, producing a 2-7 record on the gridiron & 1-1 with the thinclads before moving on.
