In addition to the financial sanctions on Bracetek, Sidhu was ordered to pay $950,000 in a settlement with the BCSC and was prohibited from some market activity for 7.5 years.

The investment was more than 50% of the woman's net worth. She sold her home to pay off the mortgage, is now renting, and fears she could never afford owning a home again.

She also wasn't told that most of her investment was used to pay Sidhu’s father, family and his father’s girlfriend, and that Bracetek wouldn't have sufficient funds left to accomplish its business objective. By 2017, only around $2,100 remained in Bracetek’s bank account.

Sidhu said her investment would triple in value when Bracetek went public. But the investor wasn't told the company had less than $100 in its bank account, had no revenue, and hadn't paid for the technologies used in its braces.

Geoffrey Ray Sidhu, the son of Bracetek's sole officer and director, persuaded a woman to mortgage her home and invest most of the proceeds in the company, which Sidhu said was in the business of manufacturing braces used in construction.
